  • The world’s first commercial passenger ferry powered by 100% hydrogen fuel, the MV Sea Change, was launched at the San Francisco Ferry Building. Unlike current diesel-powered ferries that emit pollutants, the hydrogen-powered Sea Change produces only heat and water vapour as byproducts. Passengers can even drink the emissions from an onboard water fountain.
  • Department of Posts releases the beta version of DIGIPIN for public review, which aims to establish a standardized, geo-coded addressing system in India.
  • European Space Agency announces new mission to the infamous asteroid Apophis. ESA’s Ramses (Rapid Apophis Mission for Space Safety) spacecraft aims to intercept Apophis, by scouting out Apophis before and after the asteroid’s super-close flyby of Earth in 2029.

The micro-credit scheme for urban street vendors, which provides collateral-free loans up to Rs 50,000, was launched by the Narendra Modi government in 2020 during the COVID-19 outbreak.
  • Côte d’Ivoire Joins UN Water Convention to Enhance Transboundary Water Cooperation.The country is the 10th African nation to join the 1992 Convention on the Protection and Use of Transboundary Watercourses and International Lakes, commonly known as the UN Water Convention.
